In 2003 a large oil and gas company nearly had a disaster. They spent millions of dollars capturing hi-resolution images of the ocean floor and stored them on their file servers. One day these images were gone.
Were they accidentally deleted? Deliberately stolen? Two storage experts discovered that there was no record of what had happened, and no easy way to figure it out.
From this potential disaster, these storage experts saw opportunity. File systems were growing exponentially in complexity and size. Data was becoming more valuable than ever, and it needed to be better protected.
And so in 2005, those storage experts – Yaki Faitelson and Ohad Korkus – founded Varonis to give organizations more visibility into their data, and to protect their critical information.
Our platform collects, stores and analyzes metadata non-intrusively, in real-time, on the major platforms that store unstructured data. It was architected from the ground up by a team of technologists with deep domain expertise and the hunger to tackle massive problems.
Chief Executive Officer, President, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board
Yaki is responsible for leading the management, strategic direction and execution of the Varonis vision. With extensive cross-functional experience in storage, networking, operating systems and application software, Yaki saw the necessity and opportunity for next-generation data management and protection automation. Together, he and Ohad Korkus conceived and architected the MetaData Framework technology that now serves as the foundation for the Varonis Data Security Platform and are creators of numerous patents for permissions visualization, simulation, and data analysis. Under his leadership, Varonis has experienced hyper growth, cultivated a worldwide installation base, and forged a leading position in the data governance market. Prior to Varonis, Yaki held leadership positions in the global professional services and systems integration divisions of NetVision and Network Appliance.
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Melamed serves as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Varonis. He is responsible for global operations, executing business strategies and financial management, including legal, treasury, investor relations and purchasing. Prior to becoming Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Melamed served in various finance roles within the company since 2011, most recently as Vice President of Finance, during which time he was responsible for financial planning, reporting and operations and was instrumental in building and managing the global finance organization. Prior to joining Varonis, Mr. Melamed held positions at Ernst & Young as an Audit Manager and KPMG, working with both foreign and domestic public and private companies. Mr. Melamed holds both a B.A and M.S.A from Boston College and is a Certified Public Accountant in the U.S. and Israel.
Executive Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer
David is responsible for all of Varonis’ product development and quality assurance. Under his leadership, the company has assembled a world-class engineering organization with deep experience spanning digital collaboration, storage, networking and security. Prior to Varonis, he held managerial development positions in NetVision Internet Applications, and as an independent contractor.
CIO and Vice President of Technical Services
As Vice President of Technical Support, Professional Services and IT, Gilad is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through successful deployment and continued operation of Varonis products. Prior to Varonis, he held roles at Network Appliance and NetVision where he assisted customers with highly technical pre and post-sales deployments of networking and storage infrastructure.
Chief Marketing Officer
David Gibson has more than 20 years of technology and marketing experience. He is responsible for building brand awareness, aligning product innovations with market demand, and driving sales through marketing, communications and educational initiatives. David joined Varonis in 2006. Prior to Varonis, David was a systems engineer for Tripwire, and worked as a network management and security engineer at International Integrated Solutions. David is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and speaks on topics related to cybersecurity and technology best practices. He frequently speaks at industry conferences and has been quoted in The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post and numerous security news sources.
Chief Architect
Mr. Kaysar is the Chief Architect of Research & Development at Varonis, leading the development of the architecture roadmap at Varonis. Formerly the Director of Core Engineering, Mr. Kaysar has been with Varonis for over 10 years, developing new methods to classify and analyze enterprise data, and also has over 20 years’ experience in developing high volume backend distributed software, specializing in both startup and enterprise environments. Mr. Kaysar holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Business Administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales
Jim is responsible for developing and growing the Varonis business through high performance sales teams and strategic channel partnerships in worldwide markets. Prior to joining Varonis, he held leadership roles at Neoteris/Netscreen (acquired by Juniper), BlueCoat Systems, and Wellfleet/Bay Networks (acquired by Nortel). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Scranton.
Vice President of Global Field Engineering
Ken Spinner joined Varonis in 2006 and leads all technical pre- and post- sales engineering activities for Varonis customers worldwide. His team has worked closely with thousands of organizations to address the challenges of identifying and securing information — resulting in significant risk reduction, improved productivity and operational efficiencies. Ken’s career spans 30 years with organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 500 industry leaders. Prior to Varonis, Ken held leadership and senior engineering roles at Neoteris, Netscreen, Juniper Networks, BlueCoat Systems and Merck. Ken’s experience includes application development, enterprise infrastructure, e-commerce and global operations, and the development and deployment of global data networks. Ken speaks at partner and industry conferences and is frequently quoted in the news on topics such as ransomware, data security, data compliance standards such as GDPR, and insider threats. He holds a B.A. degree from Rutgers University.
Vice President and General Counsel
Seth is responsible for legal and compliance matters at Varonis. Prior to joining Varonis, he was a Senior Corporate Counsel in the legal department at Amdocs for seven years. Prior to that, Seth was a partner in the Corporate Department of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, a leading international law firm. Mr. Gerson holds a Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
Vice President of Human Resources
Dana is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources at Varonis from recruiting to employee relations, leadership and organizational development. Prior to Varonis, Dana lead “Intoto Solutions”- an HR consulting company providing HR services and consulting to small businesses. Prior to that, she served as VP of Human Resources at Radcom where she led HR activities for nine years. Dana holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Behavioral Science and a Masters in Social Psychology from Bar-Ilan University.
Vice President of Product Management
Ms. Bronner is the VP of Product Management at Varonis, leading the strategic planning and development of Varonis products and services. Ms. Bronner has over 15 years of experience in software development and product and project management.
Prior to Varonis, Ms. Bronner led product management, analysis, and user experience for large and medium enterprises, founded and led a mobile platform startup utilizing business logic and data, and managed big data and cyber projects for the Israel Defense Forces. Ms. Bronner holds a M.Sc. in Technology Management and a B.A. in Management and Finance from Tel Aviv University.
